Understanding the Waiting List
At Pure Orthodontics, we are committed to providing high-quality care to all our NHS patients. However, like all of the practices across Nottingham, we are currently experiencing unprecedented demand for orthodontic treatment.
Because NHS funding is capped annually, we can only see a specific number of patients each month. This has resulted in a current waiting time of approximately 4 years from the date of your initial referral to treatment, for non-urgent cases.”
Managing Your Referral
To ensure our reception team can focus on patient care and clinical emergencies, we kindly ask that you follow these guidelines:
Please do not call for updates: We are unable to provide individual positions on the waiting list over the phone. Our team sees patients in strict chronological order based on the date the referral was received.
We will contact you: Rest assured, your details are on our system. We will contact you via phone or letter as soon as an assessment slot becomes available.
Keep your dentist updated: If you change your address or phone number, please inform your General Dentist. They manage your primary records and will ensure we have your correct contact information.
Frequently Asked Questions
My child is approaching 18. Will they lose their funding?
No. As long as the referral was received and processed by us before the patient's 18th birthday, their NHS eligibility is protected, even if the treatment starts after they turn 18.
Can I pay a fee to move up the NHS list?
No. The NHS waiting list is managed strictly by referral date. It is not possible to "fast-track" an NHS assessment.
What if we move to a different area?
If you move, you can request that your referral be transferred to a practice closer to your new home. However, waiting times vary by region, and you will usually be added to the end of their list.
Don’t want to wait? Consider Private Treatment.
If you would prefer not to wait four years for treatment to begin, we offer private orthodontic options for both children and adults.
- Wait Time: Typically 1 to 3 weeks for a consultation.
- Options: Includes Invisalign (clear aligners) and aesthetic clear braces.
- Payment: Interest-free payment plans to spread the cost.
